Editing
Copyediting consists of marking manuscripts for proper spelling,
punctuation, and grammar; for correct mathematical notation
and syntax; and to reflect the editorial objectives of clarity,
consistency, idiom, and succinctness. Also, authors
are queried with regard to dubious or obscure passages.
In addition to the books listed here, we have copyedited many
hundreds of papers in the fields of economics and mathematics.

Note: An acquiring (or book) editor
solicits manuscripts from authors, and a production editor
is then responsible for transforming the authors manuscript into
a book. A copy (or line) editor checks
every sentence in that manuscript before it is ready for
typesetting.
In these pages, by editing
we always mean copyediting.
